ABOUT FAMILY & FRIENDS OF SARASOTA NATIONAL CEMETERY, INC.

This Non-Profit Foundation was established in memory of and by the family of Ronald Richardson.

Ron was a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran who died January 4, 2015

of Pulmonary Fibrosis, a 100% Service Connected Disease. The diagnosis of Pulmonary Fibrosis was made less than 3 months prior to his death, giving him, his wife and family little warning and after he left this year, they have battled much heartache and grief learning how to continue to live without him and how to best honor his service and the amazing man he was. Ron was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle who, like so many of his Brothers and Sisters in Arms, was taken from us far too soon.

Ron's final resting place is on the hallowed and sacred grounds of Sarasota National Cemetery. His wife, Meshia, became a volunteer for Sarasota National Cemetery shortly after his passing and has devoted the last 9+ years to remembering and honoring him and his brothers and sisters in arms.  She began first to promote and raise donations and awareness for the first ever Flag Placement at every monument for Memorial Day May 23, 2015, and then later that same year, registered as an active sponsorship group for Wreaths Across America.

Family & Friends of Sarasota National Cemetery Inc now ranks #2 in the State of Florida and #8 in the United States with fundraising efforts for Wreaths Across America, and with the support of her "Mission Army" has accomplished the laying of a Veteran's Wreath for every Monument each December and the placement of an American Flag at each Monument every May.

Meshia believes God puts a path in front of each of us, yet only we know when to follow that path.

Grief knows no boundaries….

Grief has no time limit....

Grief is the truest form of love....
